I would as well like to use my blackberry as a modem. And would also like to know if Telcel charges extra if I use the as a modem.

Follow this guide to setting it up to use as a modem:

[User] HOWTO: Use BlackBerry As Modem For Laptop!

Not sure if your carrier will charge you any extra or not. Cingular does, but others don't. You'll have to call them to find out.

Telcel will charge you since you are using the internet APN to browse, as opposed to the blackberry.net APN, I think it goes about 12 cents per kilobyte.

i know this is a really late reply, but i just got my first telcel monthly statement since i own the pearl, and they charged me for about 20 megs of gprs data even though i pay for the BIS. so if you configure the APN for telcel, be prepared to shell out a LOT of cash.
