Default alphabetical dialing on 7290?

Please Login to Remove!

Is there any way to show the letters that correspond to the numbers when you're dialing (e.g. "abc" is the 2 key) so you can more easily dial numbers like "1-800-mattress." I'm a recent TREO convert and miss the on-screen number-pad you could pull up to show that.

Thanks

I know you can hold ALT and type the letters to dial the letters directly on a BlackBerry, but I assume you mean you're looking for a way to convert between numbers and letters visually, right?

On the 7290 running the 4.x OS one would just hold the alt key down ( ) and type the letters. They display as letters but the phone dials the correct numbers. Cool.

Default Thanks!

I just needed a way to dial the letters so as not to have to do the mental gymnastics (I was in the car and couldn't remember if the letters started on 1 or 2), I didn't realize that you could do it directly. Thanks

What if the letter is not the first letter on the key. For example, I can multitype to hit the letter I....it just sets it as the letter u and moves on.

Thanks,

Hold ALT and hit the letter key twice.
ALT-U-U = I

Default Is this in the helpful hints?

On the 7290, just spell out the phone number (like 800-MATTRESS) and hit . The phone converts the text to the proper numbers automatically! No coverting or mental gymnastics required...
