Default Firmware u/g on BB 7250 - I've lost functionality!?!

Please Login to Remove!

I recently u/g'd my bb 7250 to firmware and am now no longer able to do two things:

1) I can no longer hit "c" to compose a message from the home screen even though I have the "dial from home screen" function off. I can hit "m" and then "c" but I can't hit "c" from the home screen.

2) From the phone application, I can no longer use alpha characters to quickly find users from my address book. I have it set to display "names" but my alpha keys do not work. All I can do is dial numerical phone #'s.

Has anyone else experienced these issues...with my previous firmware (can't recall version) both of these functions worked fine.

Welcome to BB Forums!

This functionality was removed in 4.1; been posted and documented many times.

In 4.1 they removed the "C"ompose feature. Search for Quick Compose here - a free utility that replaces the now missing Compose.

And the second one - dial by name - is much tougher. Only thing I can suggest is to go into the Address List and select the name from there.

Same here. I have upgraded the firmware on a 7290 and have lost the ability to lookup a name in the address book from the phone application.

Why would RIM do this to us? And why has the feature re-appeared on the 8800 with newer firmware?

My only guess would be that they have taken this away due to a conflict with another function, but that's no excuse.

Q: Hi, I bought this car from you a month ago, and since I took it in for a service, I am now missing revearse gear. Why have you done this to me?

A: We found it was interfering with the indicators. But if you buy the next model in the range, you will find we have restored the reverse gear.

Q: Is there a fix for the issue with my car?

A: Probably, but why bother? Your car is obsolete now... Buy a new one.

Q: Yeah, ok, here's my imaginary cheque book.
