i also have some questions

i am purchasing a new 7100x from a friend in the US. and i live in BC canada. now i was wondering will i be able to unlock it since it was a t-mobile phone, i want to use it on Fido, yes i know i wont be able to use alot of the features but thats not the reason i am getting it! So if you nice people can let me know before hand if i can unlock it and use it before i buy it that would be great!

after reading some more i see i can only use it for phone and sms which is fine by me... actually what about internet? like just standard internet? lol thanks again

With Fido you can ONLY use it for phone and SMS. No Internet at all. No way around this. They do not support BlackBerrys and you can only have voice and SMS.

Please contact one of the sponsors or commercial unlockers about purchasing an unlock code for uit.

what about GPRS? wouldnt that work in BBs? i know they dont support them but yeah... i dont care about html or whatever else BBs use...

Hope I am not wrong on this but before the person ships the phone to you ask him if you can get him to unlock the phone. Tmobile will do it for free if he's been a customer for longer than 90 days I believe.

Fido does not support the BlackBerry. No GPRS, no data at all. Voice and SMS only.

Wow. It's a bummer to have such a great phone and not be able to use all the good features. But if you will text a lot the keyboard will come in handy.

** In order to have DATA on your BB you need to have a BB DATA plan.** There is no way around this. You can not get the internet, you cannot get email, you cannot download applications (unless through Desktop Manager) you cannot send/receive pins, nothing.

As has been said on the forums before, If you were looking to go on the cheap, then the BB is not for you. Without a BB data plan the Pearl is nothing but a fancy cell phone.....Sorry.

ok... first of all... i dont know if you were trying to be an ass or not... but you are coming off that way...
second i know i cant get data! i have read it over and over again... i did NOT know that the PIN was a date feature... hence the reason for me asking what it was....
third... i'm not getting a pearl... i would love to as it an awesome phone, with or without the date plans... i just bought a 7105t BRAND NEW in box never openned... for 100 shipping included... so... i cant *****...

like i said in my very first post... i am new to the BB world... so man take it easy on me :P

Take it easy, friend....your PIN is a number specific only to your BB. It is used for identifying the handheld on the network. Using PIN messaging you can do Blackberry to Blackberry messaging if you know another's PIN. It requires data. Without a data plan you only have phone and sms functions.

may i ask what your opinion on the 7105t is? like i have read a few complaints about sounds quality for calling? now would that be a hardware issue or netword for the people complaining?

now i have a question for people on Rogers Network in BC...

for those who didnt purchase a BB through them, what BB are you using and from where, like what service providor did you get it from? and when you unlocked it and connected with rogers was there anything that didnt work? cuz i am thinking when i get my BB i am going to go on a data only plan and connect to my works BES, and when i called fro pricing Rogers said they cant be for sure that i'll get all the serviced and such... so i was wondering if other have had any problems with an unlocked phone on rogers..

I have a few users who have 7105t's. Some say it's the best phone they've ever had. However, two of them had mic issues. The first one repaired itself after a sofware update. The second I did have to warranty for a bad mic as the update didn't fix it. That user also complained that the audio was very staticky and broken, too. The mic's were a known issue on 7105t's. This one cut in and out and was difficult for the person on the other end to hear.

However, I had a 7100t for almost 2 years and never had a problem with it.

My best advice is when you get it make sure the OS is up to date with the latest and hope for the best. Some were great phones, some weren't.

yea i was reading about poeple having problems with the mic and what not... i think what am going to be doing is just setting up the phone on a data only plan and use it for work on rogers and then still use my other phone for talking as its impossible for anyone to beat my city fido plan....


do you know is there are any apps that will be t-mobile only? like when i talked to my friend about whar rogers told me he said what they might be talking about is that there might be a app thats a t-mobile only thing and that it wont work for rogers... anyone know anything about this? thanks

I have a tmobile 7105 locked here in USA. I do not have a tmobile account, but I do have the phone. I would like to unlock it for use with US Cellular. Thank you in advance for your time and consideration.

Welcome to the forums. Unfortunately your 7105 is a GSM phone and US Cellular is CDMA. The 7105 will not work with US Cellular.
