Default Desktop Manager Won't Connect without My Network

I searched first with no help (don't yell at me!) I am on a BES at work. When DM can't find my "messaging system" I can't connect my BB to Tether etc? It shows Not Connected. What am I not doing?

Don

if you are on a BES at work....its possible that the company IT policy disabled that feature.....I'd go ask your BES admin.

How can you tell that it can't find your messaging system? Not Connected means that your Blackberry isn't connected. The status bar item to the right of the connection state indicates whether or not it can reach your messaging system. What do you use for email?

takeshi,

I use Outlook on a BES. When I am not connected to my network or my VPN (network again) my DM shows not connected. When not connected it is like my BB is not hooked up through the USB line. How can I use the BB as a modem out of the office if I can't connect to the DM? The reply one above yours talked about my IT policy. My network admin gave me rights to the IP Modem in the BES (I believe that is the correct name) so that I could use it as a modem. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks in advance
