Default Can I load 8700r software onto an 8700g?

Please Login to Remove!

Hi all,

I just purchased an 8700g (T-Mobile). My question is, since I will be using it on Rogers, can I load the 8700r (Rogers) OS Specific Software onto it?

Cheers!

Yes, you can. Please be aware that it will not remove the carrier branding - it will still show T-Mobile on it when you start it up. You can not change that.

Here are the upgrade steps:

- download the Rogers software (P.S. - download the LATEST software; they are all written by RIM and tested and released by the carriers)
- execute the program you just downloaded
- locate and delete VENDOR.XML on your PC C: drive
- restart Desktop Manager and it should load

Good luck.
