Default Firmware Update for 7100i

Please Login to Remove!

Maybe I haven't exhausted every avenue in the past 3 days but I have used the search button many times and did more reading than I planned just attempting to add a few ringtones to my 7100i. I have the latest and greatest desktop manager 4.2.0.10. When I try to use it to move the files to the BB it tells me may BB lacks high enough version of it's software to do this. It has v4.1.0.376 platform 2.1.0.46. Do I need to preform a simple firmware update to flash the BB to the higher version? Better yet, is there a later version available?

Thanks for dealing with a nube and allowing me to read your forums.

There is no OS handheld v4.2 for the 7100i, nor will there ever be. You can not use the Media Manager features on Desktop Manager with any 7100 model.

I got ya. Will any of these "after market" programs do the job? Like BlackBerry Ring Tone Megaplex v1.1.0000

I can't yet post links or I would have given a link.

It's actually easy to move ringtones to a BlackBerry - upload them to a free web service (like CoolService.DK) and then download via the BB Browser.

I see...I am not too sure I don't have another issue. When I look at the PDF on "getting started" the first picture of the desktop (on the cell phone itself) it has a "N" (Nextel) icon right in the middle. I don't have that icon so I cannot get to the internet.
Possible causes:
Maybe it has somthing to do with me taking the old sim card from my old phone and just putting it in this one?
Maybe just the weak signal I have here at home?
If I go to nextel.com and try to send myself a text message, I don't even recieve that. I tried to buy a ringtone from nextel and never recieved it. So I don't know. Maybe I have something else going on. I would love to upload them to my site and just nav to them and d/l them but so far I can't get out to the net.

Do you have a blackberry data plan? Without one, you can't get online. If you do, resend your service books. That usually resolves the issue.

I enrolled today in the BlackBerry data plan. I think I am on my way to getting my problems resolved.

After getting all the kinks worked out today I am now online and receiving my email but now when I plug in my BB the desktop manager locks up on me. It says it is working but when I click on the icons they do not respond. I can exit the program and restart it. If I unplug the cord I get a response then but at no other time does it do a thing. I let it run for hours but still the same thing. I unistalled and reinstalled the program and still couldn't get it to work anymore. I searched here and google but couldn't find an answer.

Any ideas?
