Default Can someone confirm if 8800 can be unlocked out of the box?

Please Login to Remove!

I'm with T-mobile and REALLY want this new 8800. Can anyone confirm if it can be unlocked as easily as the old BBerry's out of the box? I don't know much about unlocking, I only know it can be done with all current Blackberry's. Any help is much appreciated.

Here is one (unsure if it is good or not) for an unlocked 8800 in eBay. From what I can tell release day is still the 20th. Listing does not say (as of now) if that is when they will ship product. It does show the auction ending on the 20th.

eBay: NEW BLACKBERRY 8800 UNLOCKED PHONE (item 160084280803 end time Feb-20-07 17:19:58 PST)

I'm not surprised. I'd wager those bidding are ones who obviously aren't in 'the know' about the approximate go-live date.

There are crazy people on eBay. Bidding twice the cost for a phone that is going to be delivered by the carrier on the same day the auction ends. I would have paid $700 a month ago for the 8800 but not any more!

It will be $30.00 to unlock the Cingular 8800. That should work for most people I think
