Default How many will be spending 350?

Please Login to Remove!

So,

how many people here would be willing to spend 350 plus the 2 year contract??

Granted there is a 50 mail in rebate but I dont like counting those because you only get it after 3 months, and sometimes its Cingular credit.

So, wouldnt you rather wait and buy the iPhone, which is rumored to be released in April or so? And besides, rumor goes that because Cingular is not dropping the price of the iPhone( they are not subsidizing the cost of it), they will be giving away a year and a half of free service(rumor goes).

Ill try to find the link of it. A lot of people have been hearing it from different sources.

Found the link:
Mac Rumors: Cingular/Rogers Not Subsidizing iPhone Cost?
Mac Rumors: AT&T/Cingular to Give Away 18 Months of iPhone Service? [Update]

I will be getting the following "deal," courtesy of Cingular (AT&T):

"You can choose from any of the handsets that we offer, and you would be
eligible for the 1 year discounted price of the phone in exchange for a
new 2 year agreement. This allows you to fulfill the original 2 year
agreement, and extend your contract one year for the new equipment you
are upgrading to early."

So, does this mean I will be spending $400 plus tax? Looks like I will since I have had the 8700c since day one. It's cracking and telling me to get a new one.

Unfortunately, I still have another year left on my contract. That was the e-mail I received from Cingular. [By the way, I just changed my username].

I am not interested in the iPhone at all. I have been doing Blackberry for several years and have strayed to other makes but ALWAYS come back to the Blackberry.

I am not saying I will not buy the iPhone but replace my Blackberry it will never do!

Yeah, I have no interest what so ever in the iPhone. The specs are not all that great plus I don't want a touch interface with my phone. I like to keep it clean.

Blackberry is THE BEST for email which is why I use mine so much. The iPhone will not beat Blackberry in that department. Also I heard a rumor that if the iPhone internal battery dies, you have to get a whole new iPhone.

Wirelessly posted (Cingular 8100 Pearl: BlackBerry8100/4.2.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/102)

$350 with a 2-yr contract is same as less than 50 cents a day. Not bad since I use my BlackBerry more than any one thing on a given day.

I'll probably buy an 8800 outright at some point (after my wife upgrades from her 8700g of course).

From a reviewer who did just that, it was noted that typing was very easy since the keyboard keys are large and do not have to be struck perfectly to record the keystroke accurately.

Can you imagine cleaning the thing after every use because of fingerprints? I think the Apple loyalists will buy it, but it really looks to me to be more of a toy than a business device.

I'm already camped outside of my Cingular store with my money ready to buy that 8800 for full retail on the 21st. People keep looking at me with a funny look on their face. Don't know what that's all about

backbeat, I'd be interseted in checking out your review if you could PM that to me. Thanks.

could you post that link?

Also I hear that the cleaning isnt that hard actually. People that had the phone for 10 minutes said that the phone didnt mark fingerprints and it was very easy to clean. I believe the screen is scratch free.
But then again, the back of the ipod was a hassle to keep from scratching.

Thats why people buy cases! How many of you will be buying a case for the 8800 or already own one for the other BBs? Shouldnt be an issue.

My concerns after reading the review are.........

Fingerprints and the fact that you *cant* put a screen protector on it....

Here is the link I was sent...

I'll buy the 8800 when it comes out on Wednesday, and if I like the iPhone better whenever the heck it comes out, then I will sell the 8800 and get that.

Why is this such a discussion? lol
