Default EDGE internet for my laptop?

Hi, I have the 8700c and would like to use it as an internet gateway for my laptop in places where there is no wi-fi It should be doable, no?

Doable, but very slow. EV-DO is faster.

Thanks, but that's not what I'm looking for. I want to share the BB's internet connection via the EDGE network, not use it as a dial-up modem. I don't have phone service on the BB so it wouldn't work anyway.

As I mentioned above, I don't have voice service on the BB - just data. I'm not looking to use it as a dial-up modem which obviously wouldn't work w/o voice service unless the 911 operator can somehow get me on the net ;) I'm looking to share my BB's internet connection with the laptop instead.

I tether with the data plan, not voice.

Follow the above listed link and you should be able to get it to work. If you are on Cingular, you'll have to add their tethering plan which is pretty expensive in my book. If you are with T-Mobile its free.
