Do the cingular stores have test units setup yet in stores? I'm not sure if I'm going to buy one yet, but would like to play around with one at the store.

They do not have test units. Most the REPS do not even know what a 8800 is yet.

From past introductions the first phones are sold pretty fast. It took weeks before they had a demo unit on another Cingular phone they were launching a few months back.

But I am sure that the ones that do know about it, know a lot about it and its features.

I am sure soon that most reps will know the power and popularity of the 8800.

Reps at corporate stores, during daytime hours especially, will be fully aware of the 8800. Why would anyone bother with a mall/kiosk/dealer shop where knowledge is generally sacrificed for profitability? No demo units yet in the Triad area of NC.

I noticed this with the pearl took them forever for the test unit, all I wanted was to play with it.

Default Texas store does

My Flower Mound TX store has it on display and even has a special bundle deal including a bluetooth headset and car charger.

well i called back to cingular and asked somebody they same thing that i asked the previous person. and they said none in stock and no test units, should expect them next week. so my guess was the first person i talked to thought i was talking about a 8100 (pearl). when i clearly said 8800, i made sure i emphasized the 88. well i will keep everybody updated on what i notice, but im sure someone else will end up buying one and giving feedback.
