took me a few seconds to figure out that the trackball was really like a free moving trackball and not a button that you could move up, down, left, right...

other than that, the trackball works great...almost as good as the wheel. screen to me looks the same.

i loaded some music and videos and it works great.

I don't have my Pearl any more but the 8800 screen seems much sharper than my 8700 when held side to side.

Have seldom quit any QWERTY devices. Most of my abandoned devices were SureType! Compared to my 8700c the keyboard keys on the 8800 do seem slightly closer but after using for only a few hours, I am getting business done. In a few days my thumbs will be quite at home.

It is good to have voice dialing again. Being a heavy BT headset user, voice dialing is the one feture the Pearl got me hooked on.

I have used alot of handhelds and I am very impressed with the build qulaity and feel of this device, solid as it gets!

It appears better (higher clarity) because the same resolution (320 x 240) is in a slightly smaller screen (@ 2.4") compared to the 8700-series.

The 8800 has a full querty keyboard so you won't find SureType on it like you would with the Pearl or the 71xx series.

i see one thing that upsets me with the cingular theme on the 8800 that it did not used to do with the cingular theme on the 8700...

any apps you load come up on the home screen and not in the applications folder. my 8700 with the cigular theme placed all new apps in the applications folder.

I agree -- this totally sucks! Only BB Maps made its way into the Applications folder. MidpSSH, Google Maps, even bPlay comes up on the main screen instead.

Zen looks too cheesy and has too many icons to scroll around in one giant mess once you open the pop-up menu. But it does have a nice Today screen.
