Default Turning off the blinking light

Please Login to Remove!

The 8700e has a blinking green light that blinks all the time, day and night. I understand that it's just letting you know that you have service but does anyone know how to turn it off?

Welcome to BB Forums. Enjoy your 8700.

This is a very commonly asked (and answered) question.

Go into Options - Screen/Keyboard and set the "LED Coverage Indicator" to Off

Options>screen/keyboard>LED coverage Indicator-change to "OFF"

Edit: Too quick for me NJ...

Just out of curiosity why would you turn this off?
I always leave mine on to know whether or not I have service without taking it out of my pocket.

Just curious the reasons for turning it off?

For the same reason one wouldn't even read their manual to find the answer to the question in the first place.

I turned mine off because I always have coverage. The blinking light wastes battery and I don't need it.

I am an on-call pilot. I leave my phone next to my bed nightly. The green light is annoying and wayyyyy to blinky to tell me what I already know. I have turned those lights off on every phone that I have owned. (However, the light CAN be very useful to someone who has service that is questionable such as in a concrete building etc.)

I wish.

Bluetooth lights seems to be a must on Bluetooth devices. Must be a trademark/proprietary requirement.

The worst is when I am Telenav-ing somewhere. I use the external GPS thinging of course so my BB is blinking its little freaking blue head off.

Welcome to the forums! As a newbie the best place to start looking for help is the Search button. It is dark red in color, to the right of "New Posts" and just left of "Quick Links".

Once you have that down, navigating this site is pretty simple. Good luck with your version of the 8700!!

I agree the blinking light is too annoying at night. When I'm going to sleep & turn the lights off.

My whole bedroom just about blinks.

Just followed the instructions shown THANK YOU.

Now I'm having problems trying to go back into the menu to change the THEME on my phone.

How do I do that now ?
