As a recent convert to the Blackberry world from a Treo I was overjoyed to see multiple profiles pre-configured for me. What I am having issue with is assigning ringtones to people. I have one ringtone for my family, one for friends, and one for work. However when I put the phone on quiet mode or vibrate the people who have special tones assigned to them ring through with their special tones. I know that in the advanced screen you can uncheck/check the exceptions but is there a way to turn off the exceptions in quiet and vibrate mode, but keep them active in normal without going through and checking the boxes every time I switch?

No. There is no way. You have to check and uncheck those exceptions. But that is not a very hard task at all. You scroll to the exception and you press the space bar once it will toggle.

Thanks for the response, I realize that it is not a hard task, just annoying is all being in and out of meetings every day... I guess this means I am going to have to go back to my old system of having one ring tone for everyone.

I have my ringtones set up for certain people and when I have it on vibrate it doesn't ring. Is that what you are saying?

Isn't there a Use Profile option for each exception like on the 8700?

What the OP wanted to do was automatically activate or deactivate his exception(s) when he selects a profile.

For example, the capability he wants will allow exception #1, 2, and 3 to be activated and exception #4, 5, 6 deactivated under the Loud mode.
When he switches to the silent mode, he wants exceptions #1, 5, 6, to be active and #2, 3, 4 to be inactive.

But profiles and exceptions do not link, which in my opinion make things far more easier to organize, so you have to individually activate/deactivate each exception no matter what profile you are in.
