Default Trackball not working after hard-reset!!!!!!

Please Login to Remove!

Alright, the stupid media manager is soooooo slow, I have to transfer my media by removing the memory card and sticking it in a reader.

But in order to do that I have to pull the battery. Thus creating a hard reset, but when I stick the battery back in, the trackball doesn't work!! It's button works, but when I try to scroll, it's a no-go!!!

I have to press and hold te power button, and preform a "soft-reset" to get the trackball working!!!!

Is this a minor glitch in the OS? everything else seems to work.

The first time I pulled the battery, the phone reset it's theme to the default Cingular theme from the zen theme I set it up to.

So I'm thinking the 8800 doesn't like the battery being pulled.

Anyone else having "minor" issues with a hard-reset?

I don't have the trackball freeze problem that you have described, but I wanted to comment that you don't have to remove the battery to remove the media card. Just make sure that you disable it first in options: advanced options: media card (menu) remove media card.

could I remove it if I simply do a soft-shutdown? Hit the power button until it turns off?

I assume so. The manual references a setting to do a soft shutdown when the back cover is open, but that setting doesn't actually exist on my BB. I assume the files are closed when it's off and you should be okay.

Don't wait too long before swapping for another one. Could be a defected 8800.

Do you mean 1 year with RIM? To my knowledge Cingular no longer offers insurance on Blackberry's (or any decent phone for that matter). And do you know how long it would take to get a replacement handset from a warranty claim? Return that joker now and get a replacement while you're still in your regular receipt warranty......

Everytime I had a warranty exchange with my 8700c it was with Cingular not RIM. (Dust on the screen exchange) I have no special warranty or anything on the phone, so if it gets dropped I'm screwed, but if it breaks otherwise, no prob.
