BB 8800: My first Impression, Launch Pics
 

Hi all,

Just got my BB launch device. Had to wait till I came home this weekend to play.

Here are some pics for those wondering still what the launch BB came in






Initial impression so far is that I like the 8700 better. The pearl makes for much more difficult one handed operation. More to come as I play.

Question: Does anyone know how to get the pearl to make the BB backlight come back on after it turns off. Seems I have to press a key to make it do it. Can you set it so the spinning the pearl awakens the device?

No. That was a major gripe about the first OS on the Pearl. Rolling the trackball was causing phone calls not to ring when they were in a pocket. You have to press a key.

Oh my god, I totally remember that from when I had the Pearl. I fogot all about that! It was horrible...I think that was my biggest gripe about the 8100.

I like silencing my 8700 in my pocket by rolling the trackwheel. This allows me to keep it in my pocket and mute it since I don't want to send it to voicemail.

Can you do something similar on the 8800? Is there a key that you can blind-push while the phone is in your pocket to silence the phone?
