Question Screen: Dimming issue

Please Login to Remove!

Has any one experienced an issue with the screen dimming while in use then having the backlight lighting back up? The screen does not turn black, the backlight just dims while it is in use then turns back on.

Other times it will be dim and the backlight will turn on when it is not in use.

It does not happen all the time, just once and a while.

I have auto backlight turned off.
Backlight Timeout: 30 sec

I am currently running:
T-mobile: 8700g

Platform: 2.0.0.152
App Version: 4.1.0.337

Theme: BB Dimension - Today
I recently installed the DST2007 update, but nothing else.

Try placing your thumb over the LED reception/notification indicator; you'll notice that the backlight dims after a few seconds. There's a sensor in there that measures the ambient light level and adjusts the display to compensate.

I sometimes hold my BB in such a way that this sensor is blocked. At first I thought the problem was some weird random thing, but I finally put 2 and 2 together and realized what was making it happen.

You can turn it off in the Screen/Keyboard options. Under the backlight portion, turn off Automatic Backlight. That will keep it at whatever brightness you desire (which can be set in that screen as well). It annoys me when it dims the screen as well...so I just keep it off. Remember, you'll sacrifice a little battery life if you don't dim it. BTW...I only know this option is available in the 8703e for Verizon...so it may be different on other carriers.
