Howdy...

I finally received my 8800 today and am pretty excited...

Now I'm wondering if I'm missing something...

According to Cingular's webpage for the 8800, i should be able to view / edit office docs like word / excel / powerpoint... So I try transferring one of my old files to see... Nope... no go...

Am I missing something or do I have to pay for the software myself?

you can view them when they are sent as attachments if you are on a BES for sure and i think possibly if you are on BIS.

I am on BIS and am able to view Word docs. Haven't tried editing any yet, so can't speak to that.

2000. But like b00st said, I've only viewed them as email attachments.

Hey I'm on BIS and I can view and edit the files that are sent via attachment. I wish I could save the files, and access them away from email.

I try to open something... it says "unrecognized document format"

So this tells me I'm missing some software... is that right?

Powerpoint files I have not tried, but word and excel (2000, 2003) work fine viewing. Haven't tried editing. Pdf files work fine so long as they are not password protected. I tried emailing myself a copy of Stinsondog's awesome tips and tricks pdf for the 8800 and gives me an error when trying to open it complaining that it is password protected. Anyone else get that?
