My old 8707v has gone to the big repair shop in the sky and been replaced with a new one. I have set up a new Enterprise Activation on the new device with a new password generated by my BES - this process completes OK but none of the old messages in my Exchange email are copied down to the device. If I receive a new email message, this is received OK by both Exchange and the device.
I have tried the Enterprise Activation a couple of times but no joy. I have also tried synching via the Desktop Manager but this does not apear to make any difference.
Depending on the version of BES you're connecting to, you may or may not be able to get access to old messages w/o pulling a backup. BES 4.x and higher have a feature called 'message prepopulation' which pushes down a certain number of days worth of mail (typically the last 5) on activation. It's also possible for the admin to effectively disable that by setting the value to zero.
If you want mail older than that - the only way to get it is from a backup file.
So it is not actually possible to do a full synch of your mailbox on to your Blackberry? Even with the desktop mananger?
That sucks - one of the greatest uses I have is to refer to an old message for information when on the road without having to fire up the laptop. If a message exists in my Exchange inbox (or sub folder) I dont see why it shouldnt be synched with my device.
I was sure that when I first set my original device up last year, once the Enterprise Activation had completed, the contents of my Exchange inbox appeared in my Blackberry inbox.
