You probably can but the extra data charges will be a lot more than the 15 bucks.

I cannot figure out why everyone tries to get something for nothing. Maybe it is part of the "game"?

I'm on the unlimited data plan.

I basically don't really need to tether ever. The only time I would use it is when the internet at my house goes out, which does happen more often than I would like. I suppose I could add the service each time it goes out and then cancel when it comes back but that is a pain. It's not worth keeping the extra $15 on all the time.

You can always use the BB to surf or read email, etc. Or maybe just relax and enjoy life without a compter for a few hours?

yes..You can use shark modem, it's a one time fee of about 40 bucks and you can surf to your hearts content...I don't think you will get the Verizon EVDO speeds, but it will be free after the initial fee

Sounds like pay-per-use is for you then...
