How to Not Show Emails in my Messages icon I just got my first blackberry. I set it up to d/l my gmail email. It works great. I have two icons on my blackberry desktop... one called "Messages" and one that is just my email... The icon called "messages" is a union of all my SMS texts, my voicemail alerts, my missed calls AND my emails... the email icon is JUST my emails... I like having an icon that is just emails... is there a way for me to NOT show emails in my general "messages" app? Right now, I get so many emails that i am losing SMS text messages... I would love to have one icon to see my mail and another icon to just show me NON-EMAIL messages... is this possible? scott. |
Welcome to the BB world. I would like to do that too but haven't found a way to do it in the options menu. It seems silly to duplicate the emails in both places. I also use gmail which forwards email to my BB. Works great and I can set up filters. |
My buddy's BB has 2 separate icons, 1 to show his emails and 1 for his sms-es. His model is a 8707g. I would love that on my 7100g too, but I do not see this function on my software v4.1... |
I have a 7130e, and I have the same problem. It's impossible to keep up with all of this messages when they are all in the same folder. I really hope someone has a solution for this. I don't understand why they would give you a seperate email folder, yet still put the same duplicate emails into my messages folder. |
The answer to this really should be a sticky, as its visited so often! Its down to the theme you're using. Some operator's themes separate SMS/MMS messages into a separate mailbox, some dont. I changed my theme to O2's as that has an SMS mailbox, an Email mailbox and a 'messages' mailbox. 'Messages' still has everything in it, but the other two have their respective types in them too, so I just hide the 'messages' icon. To load another operator's theme please look back through the threads here, there is one I was part of about a week ago which had all the info in. Rgds Andy. |
Thanks for the feedback Andy. Forgive my ignorance, but what is "another operator's theme?" If all of the messages still go into a "messages" folder, do you have to clear everything out in order for the envelope icon to go away? Is there a setting for the envelope icon? In other words, I don't want to have the envelope icon appear everytime I get an email-I only want it to appear when I have a voicemail or a Text messge? Is this possible? |
