Bought (Cingular, retail) a BBerry 8800, unlocked it perfectly (unlock8800.com) and am trying to use it with my old ATTWS (Cing. blue) account and old SIM card. The old SIM card works flawlessly in my 7290 and 8700. The device works fine, except I don't have BB Internet browser -- a must have.
I noticed that I am not getting three service books that I got on the 8700 (Blackberry InternetBrowsing Service (BIBS), IPPP for 5 Click, Browser Configuration for 5 CLick) even though Cingular rep. insists that it is provisioned correctly (Right).
I really need the old ATTWS plan.
Before I send this beautiful baby back to Cingular, anybody got any ideas?

(addendum: Tried a TMO SIM card, and everything works perfectly, including BIBS)

Did you try and force a re-register?

Settings->Options->Advanced-> Host Routing Table

Pick one of the entries (any one) Push the Menu button and select "Register now"

I have heard, but not confirmed - I think it was member Dude, that there is no Service Book for the browser on ATT so unless you are on BES there will be no HTML browswer. So you can do hosted BES for $20 month more or change to a Cingular plan. By the way I changed as I picked up rollover minutes, but lost the ability to manually change networks and free incoming texts, BUT the phone quality is much improved, and it was on both my 8700 and 8800.
