Default Keypad - Like it or not?

Do you like the "feel" of the keys on your 8800? I'm not sure if I do or not. I was using an 8700 before and I think I like the 8700's keys more than the 8800. The 8800 keys don't have as much of a definite click when you press them, especially the space key. It seems kinda "mushy".

What has been your experience so far?

They are a little "mushy" in my opinion and, at first, I thought I wasn't going to like them. But, I've gotten used to them. I'm still getting used to them and make a mistake now and then but I think it'll get much better with time.

Takes getting used to. So far, not quite as comfortable (but hey, want comfort, bring back the 950!) but it seems I'm making less errors. Possible the slight curve of the keys.

I like the 8800 over the 8700 due to the fact I can type much better one handed and I have small hands. the 8700 I had to use both hands and for me that's not always convenient.

Not always convenient? Is your other hand now suffering from BlackBerry withdrawal?

Big hands here too but working through it. As many emails as I have typed on a BB QWERTY keyboard over the years does not let me not look at the keyboard. I don't like the black keys with white letters. Too much glare from flouresent (sp?) lights. My 50 year old eyes are having mucho trouble. Love listening to emailed .wav files from my desk voicemail. One less call to make. I like the 8800.

I have to be honest. I almost returned my 8800 because I was getting quite frustrated with it and it still catches me from time to time. I'm getting better and that's a feat for me cause my patience are just about all used up with other stuff going on in my life, job, etc.

But all in all I like this device.... A LOT!

I didn't think I would like them, and they still feel strange to me, but I have made fewer mistakes than I did on my 8700.

Well for those unsure there is bbSpell. I am getting used to it too. Love the gadget except the OS lag every now and then.

By the OS lag, do you mean when you're in the middle of typing a text or message in BB Messenger and it just freezes up for like 2-3 seconds? I seem to be noticing this more and more lately and I've cleared all my cache in the browsers and done a full reset. Not sure what else to check but that's one thing that definitely annoys me from time to time.

Hello all,
I like others, am getting used to the keypad. It's a change from using the 7100t w/suretype, but I feel Im getting quicker. Looking at it in the store did give me a moment of pause, talk about a mini-keypad!

I do not yet own a 8800, but I was wondering if the jeys are the same rubberized feel as on the Pearl. If not, what are they made of? How different are they? And the OS lag? Do you think that is just a bug they have not filtered out on the first batch of 8800? Perhaps I will wait a little bit before purchasing one.

I am not seeing it then. More like response with Alt-esc slow or certain menu items when a number of apps are running. Like today trying to swap a call was slow.

I'm getting used to the keys. I like the fact that the keyboard is much more solid on the 8800, but I like the spacing on the 8700 better.

Getting used to it, having come from using the Pearl still find myself double tapping certain letters, but I like the key pad so far.

I have medium sized fingers, and I can type faster on the 8800 then the 8700 or nokia e61. mainly why I chose it

Its not just the travel, its the contour as well. The keys just seem to flow more (sorry I can't define this better!).

The other thing is the trackball - why did they wait so long. The end to thumb ache and now can go vertical and horizontal. The 8700 fels a little primitve by comparison.

I have gotten used to it. I just hit me yesterday that I wasn't thinking about them anymore. I seem to be back up to speed.
