Default Blackberry 8700

I've got a user that has a Blackberry 8700 and a computer that was freshly formatted.

He said that he was able to always receive email to the Blackberry even when his PC was off but he doesn't have a BES setup. As far as I knew this wasn't possible without the redirector running. I've got the redirector running right now on his desktop and friday he was able to receive email on the Blackberry just fine although delayed.

This weekend and today he's been unable to receive email and I've found that McAfee is actually blocking it since there's been lots of similar messages being sent (the RIM_lasdflasdf_lasdfjlz..... messages) - it thinks it's a worm.

My problem is this. First, McAfee has no help (not surprising). Anyone know how to configure everything to play nicely? I believe he's got McAfee 2007 but I can't find anything to get this to work.
Alternatively, is there a way to get emails to his Blackberry directly without needing redirector or a BES?

Thanks in advance.

Yea, set him up on BIS, if Redirector and BES are not a choice.

YEP. BIS is the answer - as the above poster mentioned. I have not had any problems running McAfee.
