Default Using an 8800 with a Freedom Universal keyboard

Please Login to Remove!

Has anyone tried to use an 8800 with our Freedom Universal Keyboard? Because the 8800 has the v.4.2 software, it should be possible to configure the handheld to work with the keyboard, as is the case with the Pearl. However today, we have a customer in the US who is unable to change his Key Stroke Injection to allow, whilst connected to a Blackberry Enterprise Server. We would like to know if any other users have experienced this issue?

I had to set the keystroke injection via application control policy on the BES for the freedom keyboard. Works great after that.

edit>> Sorry I misread your question, I've got it working via the application control policy on the 8100 and earlier devices. Haven't tried the 8800 yet.

Thanks for letting me know about this. We had understood that the 8800 could be changed independently of the BES as is the case with the pearl. We will investigate this further with RIM now.

I'll stop having my heart attack then! Grateful for the clarification!
Can anyone confirm the working with the 8800?

Thanks,

Chris,

How do I get a serial number for your keyboard if someone threw out the box that it came in?

I have one sitting here that I cannot use.

Thanks

Hi,

The serial number is on the pull out stand. Is it really the serial number you are looking for or the unique code? Let me know where you bought the keyboard and the colour of the packaging it was in, and can you confirm we are talking about the Universal?
And don't worry, we'll get you started with the keyboard. If you send me a private message with your phone number, we'll phone you to speed up the process.

Best regards,

Chris,

I just unpacked my new Freedom Universal this morning and it's working just fine with my 8800. I'm on a Cingular BIS account and I did have to change the keyboard injection option under the application settings as described in the manual.

We've just emailed you. I think your problem should be sorted now. Let me know if you have any further problem. Enjoy the keyboard. You've got the Freedom Original keyboard, by the way!

If someone call tell me where in the BES policy this keyboard injection can be turned on, I would appreciate it.

Chris, I go the code, and the keyboard is connected! Thanks for the quick fix! Now to fix the BES server and we should be up and running with gas!

Hi again,

Our Tech support have just finished for the day but if you go to our website, the answers you need are there.

Once on the website, Click on Technical Support, then Blackberry Users, then Original Freedom Keyboard.

Then download BES Security Changes and Handheld Security Changes. Hopefully, the info you need is contained there. If you are still having trouble after that, raise a support ticket (in the same location on the website) and we will get back you tomorrow. If you send us your phone number, we can phone you and talk you through it.

If you need me again, you know where I am and we're here to help.

Good luck,

Chris Macsween.
