Default How To Tell If 7290 Is Locked?

Please Login to Remove!

I recently bought an 8700g and a 7290 on Ebay. I immediately inserted my existing SIM card into the 8700g and it worked fine, no problems. Then I inserted the SIM into the 7290 and all it does is search for a network until it times out. They are both quad-band phones, so I know for certain they are compatible with GSM 850, the only freq used in Panamá. My question is how do you tell if a BlackBerry is locked to a particular network? Is it possible that the "phone" part of the 7290 I bought is defective? Any suggestions or tips?

Peace

Jason

Go to Options->Advanced Options->SIM Card and type M,E,P,D. But usually this is not necessary as the device displays "Invalid IM Card" when it is locked to a specific carrier.

I did what you said and here is what is listed:

Personalization:
SIM>>>>>>>>>>>Disabled
Network>>>>>>>>Inactive
Network Subset>>Disabled
Service Provider>>Disabled
Corporate>>>>>>>Disabled
Phone Number>>>>>+5076749XXXX

The SIM works fine in an unlocked RAZR and an 8700g. Could this 7290 be defective?

Peace

Jason

Possibly. "Inactive" network indicates an unlocked BB.
