Hello all. I just picked up the 8700g and I can get it to sync the calendar, but not the contacts off of Office XP. It says "Unable to write...blah blah"

I downloaded the 4.2 from Blackberry website but it keeps crashing my computer! Is the BB website the place to get this from? Any thoughts? I am using the disc that came from BB in the box for the PC and it says v4.1.

Office XP - I assume you mean Outlook?

What O/S is on your PC?

Install DM from the disk. You really don't need 4.2. Configure it to synch calender and contacts with Outlook. Should work.

Sorry, Outlook-yes. After reading some other posts, I looked better at the data that was going to be transeferred and I think that's the problem. Example: I have some friends and their contact on outlook is "Jessica and Shay" and the transfer breaks this up as "Jessica and (<-middle name)" and then "Shay" as another. Very weird. Also, When the cell phone sales person transferred my address book none of the qualifiers came over, such as cell or home, so I have 2 "Dave"s and 2 "Rick"s and 4 "Mark"s. Any way to skirt this issue?

no way to skirt that issue of multiple entries from your SIM card to BB Addressbook.

here is what I did, when I first encountered that issue, I transferred SIM phonebook as you did. Synch with Outlook, transfer and clean the entries up in Outlook, as it is much easier to work on your desktop.

Your SIM only allows ONE number per contact. thus the multiple entries.
