Default cingular medianet and blackberry data plans HELP HELP!!

Please Login to Remove!

hello all... in just a few hours, i will be getting myself an 8700c blackberry. Before i make the deal i wanna ask a question which i cant seem to find in search and any where else on this board. please help before i buy the wrong phone.

i am on contract with cingular and had an 8125. i am on $39.99 plan with $19.99 Unlimited media net.
My question is... if i jump on the deal with the 8700c blackberry. would i be able to use my $19.99 media net without any other blackberry connect plans?? I have read a few threads about that data is not enough and I would need a blackberry data plan. if this true? I am trying to pay as little as possible each month for a cell/data service. all i need to do is e-mail, AIM, text message, and less then 4mb per month web.

please help!!
thanks for reading.

The cheapest plan I am aware of with Cingular is 29.99 unlimited data plan.
I am willing to bet you will not be able to do the 19.99 for the 8700.

Your question has been answered many times, over and over again in this forum and in the 8700 and most likely in all of the other BB forums as well.

You must have a BB dataplan for email and Internet on a BB. I assume you will go with the personal unlimited dataplan and set up your email on BIS. Cingular charges $34.99 or $29.99 if you have a qualifying voice plan (I think its 450 minutes or more). If you IM and use text messages a lot, you will also need an SMS plan as those do not count as data.

Are you getting a new 8700 or buying a used one from someone? If you are buying a used one, make sure they have closed their BIS account and released the IMEI and PIN so you can set up your email. Otherwise, you will get their mail or nothing at all. If it was a corporate device, used on BES, then you need to make sure all IT policies have been removed. Again, if not, you have a paperweight.

You don't need a "Media.Net" plan, only the Personal BlackBerry Plan that is $30/mo or if you want BB and 1000 text/picture messages it is $40/mo. The Media.Net is for plain cell phones.

you will never find a customer willing to pay the most they can ... Media Net is for cell phones and I doubt you would be able to register your device (The BB) on the Blackberry Network to get email, the internet, or Blackberry Messenger
