Talking Found an 8700c - question

Please Login to Remove!

I work w/ the homeless and one of my guys found an 8700c at least 8 months ago...maybe longer. When he first handed it over to me about a month ago, the battery still worked but died shortly thereafter (he only turned it on to play a game one time but then couldn't use it since he only speaks spanish and didn't understand the commands LOL). I called a couple of the numbers that were the last numbers called in the phone book but got no return calls.

It had service thru Cingular. I'm absolutely sure at this point that the owner has replaced the device, etc, etc, etc.

So what do I do at this point? I would love to resell it or something but have no idea if this is legit or not or.....??????

Can anyone advise me?

Thx!

If you have any of the ownerxxx8217;s information then contact him/her and return it.

I don't have any owner information or I would have returned it. That is why I am now on this forum.

I got the device from him and have never used one (I have a PPC 6700) so managed to figure out how to list the last numbers called and wrote two of them down. The battery then died.

I left messages at those two numbers asking if someone knew someone who had lost a blackberry but received no return call. I could not call directly from the phone b/c the service had long since been turned off. There was no owner information or anything when I turned it on so I did what I could.

Call the carrier and report to them that you found a BlackBerry then give them the information under the battery.

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry8700/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/107)

Goto one of the carriers retail outlets. The dealer can then find the owner.

If you lost your device you would want the person finding it to bring it back.

Karma.

Cheers,

It's not yours to keep... Drop it off at a carrier outlet or dealer they'll locate the owner, would you not wan the same if it was yours? Such request on a public forum are just plain wrong. Here's to hoping it's protected with an IT Policy...

I have a friend who lost an 8700c at the end of August...out of curiosity, where are you located?
