Anyone else having problems using Roger's 8700r as a modem for your Notebook?

I'm having intermittent luck trying to connect and another can't at all. Just wondering if this is a widespread issue.

I have a 8700R & a 8700c (unlocked both operating on Rogers.

I've been trying to set up the tethered modem capability following all the instructions on the net with no luck - even tried mobishark.

My problem is at the very beginning - there is no modem installed on com 6, etc - no blackberry modem shows up in my control panel at all. I have installed , uninstalled and reinstalled Desktop manager 4.2 & handheld 4.1, but still no modem.

I suspect I can't go any further until I solve this.
Any ideas?

Thanks,
Frank in Toronto

It won't show up, at least for me, as a Blackberry Modem but just a Standard Modem on Com 4 for me. The instructions in the guide is what I used but I still get some difficulties in trying to get it to connect. It will though.

Make sure you completely remove your old desktop software along with any folder/files...instructions are available in this forum.

Make sure you download the latest or whatever version was recommended in the guide.

This is key to getting connected. I may have to re-install everything from scratch to resolve my intermittent issues.

Thank you lg777!
I was looking for something else on com 6 or 11 as per the internet guides, but there it was on com 4 as you said. I set it up and tried it - it works fine so far. If i find any intermittent problems or fixes, I'll post them in this thread.
