One missed call
I have a 8800 that is showing 1 missed call. I have gone thru the entire call log and been unable to find the missed call. Is there anyway to reset the counter?
I have removed the battery, checked the call logs and everything but it still shows 1 missed call. I really don't want to reset this device the user has a large ammount of stuff on it.
Under your phone options, go into call logging, and select "missed". It will cause missed calls to show up in your messages folder. Now, go in, and find it...delete it...should go away. You can then go back and change the setting back if you prefer.
You can also do it this way:
Go into your Message folder.
Hit menu and select "View Folder."
Select "Missed Calls"
Higlight today's date and click the menu key and select "Delete Prior."
I just tried both of these and was unable to get the icon to clear off of the main menu. Any other ideas?
When you look under the users call logs there is nothing even there.
Is it possible it, the missed call message in in the "save messages" folder?
Several people, including me have seen this on the 8100 - the call is not visible anywhere. The only resolution that has been found- AFAIK, is to wipe the device. Not sure this is the same problem with the 8800, but might be a good option as a last resort.
I couldn't stand that missed call showing on the screen, only lasted one day before I couldn't take it and did the wipe. good luck
I am seeing this issue as well on my 8800, went through all the folders with missed calls and deleted them, 1x icon still wouldn't go away. Cingular wants to replace the device -- they couldn't figure out how to fix it. Since I have a ShieldZone skin installed I declined the offer unless they wanted to replace that too. Next option from Cingular "tech support" was to do a hard reset, which I haven't embarked on yet. Qutes on "tech support" are added because there is not much "tech" in their support. Very very poor on this issue.
Do a full backup. Then go into backup/restore, Advanced. Clear the database for messages, and phone logs. See if the icon goes away. Then restore the messages and phone logs database from the backup you just made. Sometimes this will work. If that doesn't work, wipe the device then restore the full backup.
OK ..... tried the full backup and selective delete and restore approach, and that did not fix the problem. I then did a full wipe and full restore and that fixed the problem.
Interesting that there have been several occurrences of this issue. (reported on this forum, that is << on edit)
There are currently 2 threads running on this subject, so i will risk the wrath of a double post and post this result / resolution in both.
Not sure if this is the same O/S bug we saw several generations ago. It was not consistent, and would not surprise me if it's a bug that cannot be reproduced, and so has not been fixed.
That said, the workaround was pretty simple. If it happens again, before wiping the device, try just leaving yourself a voicemail, wait for the new message indicator to come on/increment, and then clear out the new message. Seems that the new message indicator became out of sync somehow, and so creating a new missed call gave the O/S something to grab on to...
