Default Unlocked 8800 says invalid SIM card!

Please Login to Remove!

I recently purchased a cingular unlocked 8800 from EBAY. When I put my TMobile SIM card it read invalid SIM card. This same sim card worked fine in a unlocked 8700c. Can this actually be a locked unit? I feel I may have received a locked unit. Seller said I may need a new sim card. Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Go to Options --> Advanced --> SIM Card

Press these letters on the keypad: M E P D

you should see a list come up, Network should say "Disabled" if the unit is unlocked.

If it says "Active" then your device is locked, take a pic and send to seller and hope for the best...

Also, old AT&T SIM cards don't work in the 8800.

It's actually the same. You just have to remember that when youre entering the code you're in MultiTap mode (i.e. hit O/P key twice).

Just wanted to say I have my blackberry unlocked thanks to Ari at unlockblackberry.org - Unfortunately I was sold a "unlocked" Blackberry 8800 which was locked on EBAY. Ari helped me out and helped me unlock unit within 24hrs!
