Default 8703 vs. 8800

Please Login to Remove!

Hi,

I am a newbie here and don't even own Blackberry yet. After a year of torture with a TREO Verizon is going to give me a credit towards a Blackberry. They do not yet have the 8800. So, can someone tell me if the 8800 is going to be so much better that I should wait until Verizon gets it?

Thank you!

if you like the keyboard layout of the Treo you may like the 8300 which seems to be coming to Verizon soon.

The 8800 and the 8700 both have their pluses and minuses. Folks have had squeaky side issues with the 8800 but there are resolutions to this minor flaw yet annoying situation (I have resolved mine and no more squeaky). The 8700 will be, IMO a bit behind the tech capability curve but more robust and durable. Both are excellent phones. If you HAVE to have the latest and greatest and the sexiest BB (is that possible??) then you may go the 8300 route (I don't think VZN is getting the 8800) but if durability and simplicity, not to mention $$ are your priorities then the 8700 will suit you just fine. Be sure to understand what functions are on each phone.. camera, gps, etc when doing your comparisons.

Take the time to go to the store and open up a memo on the phone and just start typing to make sure you are comfortable with the keyboard of whatever phone you choose. If you know anyone who has a BB have them show you the basic functionality of the OS. I absolutely LOVE the RIM OS.

The responses are going to be varied but at the end of the day I think you will be happy with either you choose.

Thank you very much. That would be great if they get the 8300 soon.

RIM always puts 5/25 on all their photo releases, along with the time of 12:21

And I am not liking the all silver, too Q'ish. I think it makes it look cheaper

Are you making fun of my request for carbon-fiber side rails?

No I was serious, I want the carbon fiber rails as well, think they would look great and not show fingerprints as much too.
