Im a new BlackBerry user coming from a Treo, and want to know if I can hide contacts in my 8700 like I could with the Treo. Thanks!

Hide them? I don't believe so, but you can password protect your entire device.

You can "hide" the address book application icon on the screen (where the causal person picking it up would not see the direct link to the address book... but they would still be accessible via composing an email or dialing from the phone dialer.

Ok thanks! Its that I have some phone numbers that I don't want to be seen when somebody picks up my phone. I know my Treo had a "hide" function that would allow me to store a phone number in private, and I would have to put in a password to retreive. So the 8700 does not have this function is what I'm gathering. Thx!

I don't believe so, if I am wrong, someone will certainly correct me! However, the other methods do work. Your recent phone history is still viewable, however that is easily erased.
