Unhappy Message services problem. (no reconcile now option)

Please Login to Remove!

I have been an 8700c owner since january of 2006 and I love my BB, I recently purchased a used 8700c from a seller on ebay because mine took a serious drop and is having some issues with the microphone and speaker. Unfortunately I bought a phone that was locked to BES, fortunately I'm a member here so I was able to find a link to instructions for removing BES (IT Policy) and it seems to have worked fine. I was able to disable my password and access my browser and even go online. One thing I did notice is that there is no reconcile now option in the drop down menu, so I went to options > Email Reconciliation > Message services and the only thing listed there is my email address. I looked at the same thing on my other 8700c and there are more settings like Delete On, Wireless Reconcile and On Conflicts. I'm really not sure what to do, I went into advanced options > Message Services and it only shows an email address there also but I believe that's normal because it was the same on my other BB. I thought about calling cingular but I might have some trouble with them because I didn't buy the phone from them and I updated the os to 4.1 (I Think) to have the Zen theme ( of course I learned how to here.) I anyone can help me with this problem I would really appreciate it, as of now I cannot send or receive emails. I wish these ebay sellers would be more upfront about this BES thing I see I'm not the only person this has happened to.

The only way to reconcile messages (email) that I know of is to use BES. You cannot if you are using BIS.

My other phone does it just fine, it's right below options in the drop down menu, even if that's the case I know I was able to send and receive emails before now I can't so something is wrong. Also did you read the part about nothing but my email address showing up in message services? I've never had BES ad I've been using reconcile now for over a year using my sbcglobal email.

Yea, Ram, reconcile now is not your problem, it appears. I don't know what you were doing in the past, but reconciling on BIS did not happen. If it did, then you really are one of kind.

Getting and sending email sounds like more an issue: Have you set up your BIS to the new PIN/IMEI at your carrier's BIS site?

Are you sure the old IT Policies are removed? Go to Options, Security, General Settings... is there anything listed there under Services at the bottom?

*** No services *** is what I see. what's interesting is this is actually my 3rd 8700c because I lost one before and my first and second had the reconcile now option. But I think you figured out my main problem or at least I hope. I didn't thinkt about updating my PIN/IMEI on my carrier's BIS site. I'll try that now.

Yea, that should take care of your email... we can argue about the "reconcile now" some other time. I have that option on my phone, and thought it was vital part of making sure I deleted emails from the server, or I would push it to make the BB "get" the email for it. I learned later all I was doing was watching the little data arrows run back and forth.

And under message services, all I have is the email configurations I have on my BIS.

It worked, Thanks a lot JSanders, I feel kind of stupid now. But hey it's been a long time since my initial setup. I miss the reconcile now option already.
