Cross-hair in top left corner?

Hey all, I have a cross-hair in the left top corner of my blackberry home page on my 8800. I have not been able to find anything about it in the manual's. Was wondering if anybody has the same icon and even more so knows what it is all about?

Thanks,
Henry.

GPS is enabled?

HSR 04-07-2007 09:19 AM

That's what i was thinking but i have gone into the GPS and made sure its turned off and the icon is still there. Also have tryed taking battery out and restarting... icon still coming up soon as turned on.

It's the GPS icon

HSR 04-07-2007 09:49 AM

Right ok, any ideas why its on all the time? when i go into the GPS and bring up the menu the "Start GPS" option is there instead of the "Stop GPS" option. So i would assume it is turned off, unless theres any other way of turning the GPS off?

Thanks,
Henry.

what theme

"BB Dimension Zen"

Starting and stopping in maps is only for accessing the lbs services. As far as I know it's always there because you're always covered for emergency location.

Why does it bother you do much?

HSR 04-07-2007 06:50 PM

No doesnít bother me just one of those things. Because I could not find it in the manual was just wondering what it was for. Then it was thought to be that it meant the GPS was on, thus could have been wasting battery life. But it looks like itís just for the emergency location, so no worries. Really just that i had never seen it before, only learn by finding out.

Thanks for all your help though!
Henry.

I am also curious about this question. FTR, I don't have that icon on my screen.

I'd be interested in also knowing how to stop and start my GPS. For some reason, the device is telling me that the GPS is not currently in range and when I go to Advanced Options, it has no data for current GPS Location. I click on Refresh and nothing happens. So far I popped out the battery but that didn't fix anything either.

I don't see cross hairs in my Zen theme.

Make sure your outside, indoors most times it will read 0. Its not like the cell signals it needs access to the sky.

The start / stop is in the navigation program, it does not have that option in the settings.

ppapared 04-11-2007 03:38 PM

You where right about the access to the sky. To reset using the Telenav on my 8800, I had to go outside and then go to the compass feature under GPS Tools. It takes a couple minutes but it resets your location to the GPS. After that, my problems went away.
