Smile 8800 Proven Reliability!!!!

Ok this is the one all be all of comments for the 8800's durability and "shaky" "delicate" construction.

I was out and about and dropped my 8800 and it took a 3 foot dive into solid concrete and voila!! nothing but a small minor scratch and it keeps on ticking! No software, calling, GPS errors whatsoever!

I think the 8800 is getting a bad rap for being so sleek and professional looking that some "pre" users think its delicate. Well its not! Way to go RIM!

Nice to hear your 8800 survived that terrible fall! It probably is too much for us to expect our Blackberries to come up unscathed after a drop onto concrete. I think our concerns about the 8800's durability stem from the squeaks, creaks, and overall delicate look of it. It also doesn't help that past models like the 7290 were renowned for being built like a tank. Drops do happen, and as many times as I dropped my 7290 from out of the holster, it has never failed me. I can only hope that my 8800 treats me the same. I guess only time will tell, but so far so good.

It's pretty much the same as it was with the 8700's release...

Same thing happened to me last week - dropped my 8800 on a tiled floor - the back cover came off - the battery popped out. I thought that was it. But guess what - i put the battery and cover back and it was up and running as usual. Thank you RIM. I used to gripe about the squeeky side but no more ...

During Easter i was at a camp - far away from town - we were 5 of us. NOBODY had coverage on their phone. I had 1 bar all along and was receiving calls - emails as normal. I've not had such an experience with any other phone.

While camping, the phone was with on for 2 full days - just put off in the nite - and even when i got home, the battery had still not completely drained off. I COULD NEVER HAVE DONE THAT WITH A 750. Thank u again RIM.
