I have a unlocked 8700c. I'm still with cingular voice w/ no data plan. Just out of curiosity I tried to put my friends tmobile sim into my bb. I wanted to see if I could make/receive calls. The bb never picked up the tmobile network. When I checked the network menu it said

Network: *none*
??forgot what this line said??: automatic (could be switched to manual).

FYI, he's on a family plan, voice only. Not sure if that's useful info.

Yes, I did a search on through the forums already. Didn't find an answer to my specific problem and yes I know for a fact that the bb is unlocked. I did the 'mepd' check.

The only thing I want is to be able to pop in non-cingular sim (ie, tmobile prepaid, international) and be able to use it for voice.

It should work then. What exactly does the 8700c say when you enter MEPD on the SIM screen?

It indicates that everything is disabled.
