1. OperaMini Problem?
After downloading OperaMini. The Network setup appears. After performing tests (12 tests) there is an error. Why?

2. Incoming Calls-Caller ID?
Incoming calls are shown as Unknown numbers, even those in address book.

3. Spam Filter?
I have a couple of reccuring spam emails in my BB inbox. Is there a way to mark them as spam, like gmail & yahoo.

1. Perhaps if you told us the error message you receive, we'd be able to assist in troubleshooting it.

2. Are you using content protection on your BB, and is your BB locked when the calls come in? Does the BB display unknown caller for every call, or just some? Does it happen when the device is locked/unlocked/both?

3. Spam should be handled by your e-mail provider... not the Blackberry.
If the messages are recurring, you could create a filter in BIS so that they are not forwarded to your BB at all.

1. Would you share the error message with us? Do you have any settings for the APN, located at Options, Advanced, TCP? What is there? If nothing, not knowing your carrier, I can't say what to put, but look here to determine your carrier's APN settings:

2. Are ALL calls seen as UNKNOWN? What are your settings under Phone Dialer, Options, Smart Dialing? Should be Country Code "+1" and Area Code can be blank.

3. Your BB does not have a spam filter. Filter out the spam on your POP account at the email server, best way. There are other tricks and routes to take, but this is the best way to start.

1. The Testing takes 20+ minutes to finish, so thats why I didnt specify because I forgot the error message. I get back to you in a minute.

The unknown caller issue "may" have something to do with how you have your contacts setup in the Address Book. Can you give and example of the FULL NUMBER you have entered into the field for one of the callers who should show correctly? use Xs instead of the real number.

After the tests the error is "Failed to connect to the internet"

I dowloaded opera mini a month or 2 ago it worked fine. I deleted the app. Now I want it back, this Network setup & connection error appears. What has changed?

Are you sure the unknown number isn't a lack of call display on your account from your carrier?

I still wonder what your APN settings are, and how you have Smart Dialing set in you phone options.

The thing is I only have the Blackberry Unlimited Data Plan, I dont have the voice plan with it.

With Alltel without the voice plan it is 40 cent per phone minute. Every now and then I use my BB as a phone. When I get incoming calls the numbers are unknown.

I guess the voice plan is needed to have caller ID.

Uh, yea. That might have been a key point of info to share at the beginning of this conversation.

Quick question, regarding Caller ID & number conventions -

Does it make a difference if I enter numbers like xxx-xxx-xxxx or xxxxxxxxxx in my phone book?
I notice some folks send me vcards with numbers entered as xxx.xxx.xxxx & wondered what the differences were.
As far as the + sign, I am completely clueless as to what it does...I know its something to do with International Dialing, but I always, for example, dial 01144 then the area code & number when I'm dialing UK...
How does the (+) symbol change all that?
