thanks
I am starting to think that it has something to do with some sort of firmware... I had a 8700c that I was able to get to display chinese on 4.1 with no hassles at all. Exactly same process on my 8700g when the -g rolled out and nothing. Chinese characters came up as garbled text/question marks/etc. My boss's -g straight out of the box was able to display chinese perfectly fine.

When I click call forwarding it lags, there is a "please wait" bar and the BB communicates with something (arrows in top right corner). This could mean that it is from the carrier not on the OS..?? just a thought.
That's odd, I didn't this setup prior to 4.1, or after switching to 4.2. With 4.1 it appears exactly as you have written. But this is no longer available with 4.2. Same provider, Rogers

Go to a chinese web page that you said you cannot display it correctly, click the wheel and select set encoding, uncheck auto mode, highlight the charset on the right side and use the spacebar to change it to BIG-5 or Big5-HKSCS.

Websites never had a problem displaying UTF8 or Big5 text even if I was running a non-Starhub/CSL software bundle. Only emails.

That functionality is not related to the device, but rather the drivers for the computer.

I was un-success to duplicate your problem, I copy some Chinese web page from yahoo HK, paste it in an email, send it to myself, type in some Chinese and reply back to myself, every single word display properly.

Can you forward me the email that you have problem, PM send.

See http://www.blackberryforums.com/gene...tml#post507330

One of the items listed is "bluetooth dial up networking". This is the kind of thing that presents as a modem to MacOS X, and given the proper dialing script, it should work. The script that works for the Pearl ought to work with it.

Default Working Great!

I have to say that I do like the improvements in the 4.2 handheld software. The best feature is being able to type a name on the Phone Log screen and then see the available numbers for that person.

Did a quick search but cant see any details on this
I have upgraded to 4.2.185 and all seems fine but when I try typing a symbol, it freezes?
I press and hold the ALT key and press SYM and it seems like i havent pressed it, but about 4 or 5 seconds later, the symbols menu comes up.
Anybody else have this issue?

Is that your version number?

I downloaded the 4.2 and my version number is:

v4.2.1.66 (Platform 2.3.0.59)

I am using an 8700r.

What is the version line for others?
