C'mon accessory vendors....get real.
I'm not going to name names but $11.00 shipping for a product that sells for $15.00 (a BB holster)?

Even $6.95 for standard shipping is a bit ridiculous. That's almost 50% of the merchandise price.

Not this guy...

I hear ya thats robbery And by the what part of Hot Lanta you in bro I am on the northside

masonfoley 04-26-2005 05:35 PM

Live in Kennesaw, commute to Northridge off GA400.
So North by day, Northwest by night. ;) Mostly "O.T.P." although my sister lives in Midtown so I occasionally drift into that area.

Dawg 04-26-2005 05:52 PM

Cool I am actually way north of Atlanta I live between Acworth And Cartersville. But I get to Atlanta once a week for a meeting at Our Corporate Offices

morninglight9 04-28-2005 04:46 PM

I live in Midtown, how random. Right across from the Fox.

greenejason 04-29-2005 05:55 AM

I'm in Acworth too, but work ITP near Cumberland Mall.

i make it up to Atlanta once a week, usually for fun, though. i'm going to be coming up next week for a show at Eleven50 (Marky on Cinco de Mayo). i live about an hour southwest.

masonfoley 04-29-2005 01:45 PM

Great to hear from all of you all.
I'm a quality assurance analyst (lead) for a software vendor off of Northridge. We are currently developing an app for the BBerry (an enterprise solution) which is why I intend to hang around this forum a bit more often than I usually do. ;)

I personally have a 7100t as well as our lead developer. We have a few 6210 floating around as well and we have a 4.0 BES. Really lovin' that wireless sync. It's flawless.

Dawg 04-29-2005 02:00 PM

cool I wish I was on BES but my boss refuses to spend the money on it.

Shipping costs
Vaja (my case is pictured in the avatar) credited the shipping charge 'cause it took longer than they expected.

Face it, that's the price we pay for the "Gotta have it now" society we live in.

jibi 04-29-2005 04:05 PM

well, you can't blame a vendor for shipping costs, in my opinion. typically, they do not gouge you for the shipping costs. usually markups can be found in the actual cost of the product (actually, almost all of the time). if you want to look at shipping costs, we just had $113,000 worth of servers shipped to us. thats around 1,900 lbs of servers.

do keep in mind that $6.95 for shipping via one of the big guys (FedEx, UPS, or DHL) will be about right for a smaller product. heck, we're charged $25 or so to ship things via FedEx for some items to our other business units.

mas90guru 04-30-2005 06:24 AM

Shipping is almost universally expensive which I why I try to group my purchases together to keep the cost reasonable.

you could order a pool table from overstock (very heavy) and receive it with $2 shipping. :-)

the thing is, volume sales receive discounted shipping. small shops do not - they receiving virtually the same prices that we do if we wanted to ship something ourselves. i'm not sure who the topic was geared towards, but no accessories website thats been posted on this forum is what i'd call volume sales (large retailer).
