I just got my blackberry and I was wondering what everyone use to put applications/ringtones/wallpapers/theme into it. What are some general stuff that everyone puts in there phones? Links to any websites would be most appreciated. Thanks

You should be able to upgrade to OS 4.2 and use Desktop Manager's Media Manager to do this... You'll have to search here for details as I don't have URL's handy and all of this is covered in other threads.

That would be OS 4.2. There is a sticky thread for it at the top of the 8700 series discussion forum.

Greetings and Welcome to the Forum

I might offer a suggestion. You may want to hold off just a short while, before adding anything to your BlackBerry. That way you can take some time to learn all about it and be sure that it's working properly for the first week or so. Then if anything goes wrong you know it's not because of some changes you made.

Also you may find (as I did) that after you use it for awhile your ideas of what you want on it change. The BlackBerry is equipped with a very good web browser and email handling software as it is new. So you may want to take your time and use it the way it is. Read more posts here on the forum, which will also give you ideas. And then make the mods later.

Cheers....

Good advice from archer6. New to the BB world myself. The more I explore what I already have the more I want to be better at utilizing it.

I just bought a used 8700c off eBay. Formerly I had a Pearl and found that it wasn't very useful for web browsing--is the 8700 better in this regard?

It has a bigger screen, that's about all.

Both use EDGE technology so the web browsing will not be faster on one versus the other one.

I have loaded a few extra apps on my 8700c. Beyond 411 has been spotty for me, as well as Google maps. Clearly the app that I am happiest with is BlackBerry Messenger.
