Default Mystery buttons/contacts on left side of 8800?

On the left side of the 8800 there are two D-shaped slots with what look like buttons or electrical contacts at the base. Does anyone know what they are?

Speculation is that they are to connect with some 'yet to be released' charging/docking cradle.

Threy have been discussed many times and are, indeed, for some future charging cradle. I guess the way the 8800 battery door slides off they put them on the side. I am betting we never see a OEM cradle, they need to put these contacts on the bottom!

The 83XX series has these charging contacts on the back
