Default BB Messenger problem

Please Login to Remove!

I had BB Messenger installed on my 8800, although was not even aware it was there until someone sent me a message (did have it loaded on my 8700 originally and worked fine).

The problem appears to be that when I try to read the message, I get a request to "please enter your name as you would like others to see it", I then click on "OK", I then get a message that says "your name cannot be empty"

Seems I'm stuck in some endless loop and can't for the life of me figure it out or read the message....Help??!!

Have you tried a hard reboot??? (pull battery for 30 sec)

If so,

Try deleting the application in Options >> Advanced Options >> Applications

Then either reload the application OTA (from mobile.blackberry.com) or thru Desktop manager

Dude, you're VERY good! Hard reboot did the trick and Messenger now up and running.

Gotta love this forum...ask a question, get a dead on response secs later!....thanks again!

Thats really odd!! No one can send you a blackberry messenger message without you first either sending them an invite to add you or you accepting an invite from them. Messenger simply uses PIN numbers from the BB to send a message directly to your phone. Where it says enter what you want others to see..just put your initials or something. NO ONE ELSE CAN SEND YOU A MESSAGE - only an invite and even then you can accept or decline. Keep in mind Messenger is great because it does not count against text message units! Is there a reason you dont want to use it??

Delete the Messenger app and PIN to PIN will come without that issue
