Default Yahoo on the Cingular Network

So I have seen a lot of programs out for the 8800, some free some not, and I have seen that most, if not all, has requested you to go to the blackberry site to activate device. Now this is a shot in the dark but is the Cingular blackberry server not allowing this to go through?
Will this ever be an option that we would be able to maybe see in the future?
