Default Keyboard overlay

Please Login to Remove!

If my keyboard was damaged by maple syrup (don't ask), and most of the functionality was restored by rinse, is it possible to peel the overlay off to clean under the little key poppers, or would a new overlay be required?

A few keys were not restored and I think it has to be cleaned under the buttons.

The same would go for anyone that was doing a housing change and wanted to change the overlay.

Are they available anywhere?

Look here:
Cellular Nationwide Network
I don't see an 8700c keypad, however they have them for other 8700 models. I don't know offhand if they are interchangeable, they should be. Hopefully another user here will tell us.

Look at the very top of this 8700 forum for disassembly instructions/photos.

Changing and cleaning the keypad should be easy enough to do. I would use denatured or isopropyl alcohol, with a q-tip, letting it dry COMPLETELY before reassembly.

I am talking about the white tape that hold the little poppely metal buttons in place. This is beneath the keypad.

The problem is UNDER the metal buttons and I want to peel this up without damaging it, to clean under. Otherwise I would just tear it all off and put a new keyboard overlay on it then reassemble.

The white tape stuff holding the metal buttons ON the unit.

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry8700/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/102)

BTW thanks for the link, I am also looking for a new housing and the prices are very reasonable.
