Default 8700c Cingular, Backup Problem HELP!

I have the CEO's 8700c, and I cannot get it to run a backup. In specifics, I am looking to backup the messages (3000+) and restore them to his replacement. In the process of the backup, 1 of 2 things happens.

1)An error pops up, stating: The Communication link has been terminated by the device.


2)It makes it to 1:06 time remaining, and just hangs there. The BB screen has the Connected to Desktop graphic, and a spinning hourglass.

Any ideas? Anyone know of a 3rd party backup app I could try?

No, I don't know of another option to back up the BB. Here are few things you might try:

-Delete all call logs: Messages > View Folders > Phone Log > scroll to latest date heading, click to delete all prior. This often speeds up the backup/restore process.

-I think the problem could be the large number of messages. You could have him delete those not needed, and try again.

-Likewise, it is common for the hourglass to spin on backup/restore. Give it another try and let it sit, even 30 mins to an hour if necessary.

Still though, deleting the call logs would greatly help.
