Default Only number keys are working: can't enter password

Please Login to Remove!

So I've got a alphanumeric password to lock my BB 8700g. When trying to enter the password in, only the number keys are responding. The letters don't do anything, alt/num/cap work and that's it. I've taken the battery out several times for short and long periods. Is there a default password that only uses numbers? Is it possible while in my pocket during work (photographer, running around a lot in the sun), the buttons got pushed and it resulted in the 10 password limit to be hit? When that happens, what does it do to the device? Thanks all.

At 10 incorrect passwords it will wipe the device.

Not a problem if you've done backups and are familiar with loading OS.

Anyone have a clue as to why the letter keys aren't responding?

Does it auto-wipe after 10, or do you have to type in 'blackberry' after 10 tries to wipe? I remember screwing around one time, and could swear it wanted me to type 'blackberry' to do something...

Are you sure it's not asking for the SIM security code?
