I caught a partial radio commerical on Country 105 this morning here in Calgary, AB. It stated something like the Blackberry 8800 is going for a promotion of $99 along with the Pearl, the Blackberry 8700 for $49. It stated it was an ALBERTA only promotion and to see a Rogers Wireless dealer for details.

Anyone know anything about this? I've been putting off getting an 8800 due to the obnoxious price.

Just called a store and found out that what I wrote above is correct. However, it's for a 3 year term for new activations only. They also noted that existing accounts will also have a lower price than the nation-wide costs as well. I upgraded from a 7780 to a 8700 a year or so ago, so I'll go find out how much it would cost to do an upgrade later.

I just called the main Rogers line, and inquired how much it would be for me. They indicated due to my usage/bill levels and such, they offered it to me for $79 after a $50 rebate. Free shipping via UPS to my office in 3 days.

Glad I waited to pull the trigger on this 8800 until now!

Again, they noted that this was purely an Alberta deal. Nothing for the rest of you guys out East due to the Blackberry price war with Telus.
