8800 GPS and BBMaps on Plane Someone already did this with their 8100 and a GPS puck over in the GPS forum..I read that and couldn't resist when I got on my flight from MN yesterday. BB 8800 GPS, 30,000FT. ![]() ![]() Took off occurred at 160mph. |
That is funny! Thanks for the pics too! |
you broke many laws sir! I am going to report you IMMEDIATELY I've done the same thing |
I have been wondering all about that, going to vegas soon and was wondering is GPS is available in airplane mode??? lol edit- guess there is no airplane mode on BB, just turn off the cell radio. |
That plane was going 500MPH? DAYUM! |
I find you have to start it up and get a fix before takeoff and leave it on. If you turn it on mid flight it will not get a fix. |
I did this the other day on a flight to Chicago...we had a tail wind....624mph. on the way home the top speed was 424mph. It only worked in the window seat though....still rocks pretty hard. Also, I DID turn it on mid-flight and got a 6 sat fix. |
When y'all end up like those on LOST - don't call me. Ok, that wasn't a good joke. |

I tried once in the air. Got a lock on Sats as the compass worked and I got air speeds, but couldn't dial out and get a signal since we were too high and thus I couldn't get my maps. Did this using telenav. However, I didn't think of using it while on the ground and zooming out. Will have to do that next time. I wish there was a way to have the maps on the sd card. |
